for colored girls

Inspired by Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, this costume design series explores joy, innocence, youth, growth, and resilience through material and movement. Using collage and assemblage, I layered paper and fabric scraps to suggest the movement, shape, and presence of the body. Each composition reimagines one of four Ladies.; Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red, transforming their individual stories and emotions into wearable forms.
